I'm delighted to share with you that I'll be hosting a new parenting talk show on www.voiceamerica.com every Wed. at Noon CT starting July 29.
My goal for Real Parents. Real Solutions. is two-fold. I want you to find solutions for problems that you’re currently facing so you’ll have options that you can try immediately with your child(ren). My hope is that you’ll feel less stress because you can move forward with solutions that work for you. I hope your family will be happier as a result.
Most parents are so busy that there’s little time to read parenting books, do research and talk to other parents about what’s working for them. I hope to be a one-stop shop for you. Each show will feature a professional who has expertise on the topic we’re discussing and at least one parent who has information to share, too. I want you to call during the show at 1-866-472-5788, or write in (toni@getparentinghelpnow.com) with tips on what’s worked for you. Send me topics you want covered. Send me questions you want answered. Blog with me, so this is truly interactive.(http://blog.getparentinghelpnow.com)
There’s no tougher job than parenting. If we support each other, it’ll be easier. We’re all in this together! Join me weekly on the network.
Award-winning author Hara Estroff Marano will be the first guest on July 29.
Estroff Marano, editor-in-chief of Psychology Today, will discuss how “invasive” parenting is creating a nation of wimps, increasing depression and other disorders among college students and “threatening the future of our democracy and economy.”
This show will be a great opportunity for you to take stock of whether you may be over- parenting by being too overprotective, too controlling or expecting perfection, which are all behaviors that can set children up for failure later.
Parent, teacher and North Oaks, MN resident Laurie Vinyon, will also join the show to share how she’s countering the trend with her three children.
“Real Parents. Real Solutions” will air live on Wednesdays at 12 p.m. Central on the VoiceAmerica Variety Channel. To access the show, log on at http://www.modavox.com. All shows will be available in Toni Schutta’s Content Library on the VoiceAmerica Channel for on-demand and pod cast download at http://www.modavox.com in case you miss the live show.
Future shows include: “Reducing Sibling Hassles,” Aug. 5 with Author Adele Faber; “How to Win the Chore Wars,” Aug. 12 with Author Elizabeth Crary; “Parenting by Strengths,” Aug. 19, Multiple Authors; and “What Every Parent Should Know About Middle School (But Was Afraid to Ask),” Aug. 26 with Psychologist Stephen Kahn.
Hope to see you there!
